Meet your Ugly Duckling Team

Kurvin – Certified Master Inspector

I’m Kurvin Gordon, Principal Inspector at Ugly Duckling Inspections, blending over 25 years of home building and construction experience with certified expertise as a Master Inspector. I started in construction at age 15 and eventually served as a Commissioner over Building and Standards, which further refined my commitment to building safety and integrity.

From the feedback I receive:

“Very knowledgeable, skilled and professional. I highly recommend these folks.” Yelp+9Home Advisor+9Houzeo+9

“Attention to detail was on point… reports were thorough, with pictures and videos… helping ease my way.” Angi

“Excellent inspections. Local and family‑owned. It was very thorough, and nothing was missed.” Home Advisor+4Yelp+4m.yelp.ca+4

My approach is deeply informed by hands-on construction experience and a clear desire to simplify the home-buying process. Clients often mention that I take the time to explain things clearly and never rush through examinations.

At Ugly Duckling Inspections, my mission is to deliver detailed, transparent reports that empower clients—whether they are buying, selling, or maintaining a home. I stand behind every inspection, every narrative, and every recommendation with integrity and professionalism.

David – Inspector

David is an Army veteran and seasoned construction professional with over 20 years of hands-on experience. His journey in the trades began as a teenager, working for his grandfather’s plumbing business, where he developed a strong foundation in mechanical systems and craftsmanship. Over the years, he expanded his skills across multiple trades, ultimately building his own home from the ground up. David brings military precision, a sharp eye for detail, and an unwavering focus on safety to every inspection. His calm, confident approach puts clients at ease, and his inspections are thorough, honest, and clear. Whether you’re buying your first home or evaluating an investment property, David is a trusted choice for reliable, top-quality inspection service.

Katie – Inspector’s Assistant and Future Inspector

At just 19 years old, Katie Gordon is already one of the youngest female home inspectors in the nation—and one of the most driven. She’s been working alongside her father, Kurvin Gordon, since she could walk, learning the ins and outs of homes through real-world experience rather than textbooks. Katie has personally owned multiple homes and even built one of her own, giving her a rare, hands-on perspective that sets her apart from the field. Her inspections are detailed, thoughtful, and grounded in both lived experience and technical skill. Whether she’s climbing into an attic or explaining a finding to a first-time buyer, Katie brings a calm, confident presence that clients trust. She’s not just following in her father’s footsteps—she’s helping to lead the next generation of home inspectors with passion, precision, and professionalism.

Lexie – Director of Operations

You can reach her outside of the normal 9-5 because she is there when you need her.

Douglas – Inspector

I have been involved in the residential construction field for most of my life, working on everything from new builds to remodeling 150-year-old homes. I enjoy helping people find the comfort and safety that everyone deserves in their own home.

As an inspector, my goal is to guide you through the experience of homeownership with as little uncertainty as possible. I am happy to go into the spaces of your home that are rarely seen to help you understand both current and potential future maintenance needs.

My motto is: “Love your home and it will love you back.” Let me help you find out what your house needs — and thank you for the opportunity.
